When Japanese motorcycles outcompeted the English ones

England was a leader in the motorcycle world

In the 1950s, England was a leader in motorcycles.

Brands such as Triumph, BSA and Norton were known worldwide for speed, design and racing.

However, there were often challenges with English motorcycles.

The motorcycles were fast - but not always reliable. Technical problems, oil leaks and an old-fashioned production were well known, and caused buyers to seek new markets and brands.

Japan changes the market

In the 1960s, Japanese manufacturers entered the market.

Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki quickly became some of the leading brands, fulfilling the demands for motorcycles with great reliability, modern technology and high quality.

In 1969, the Honda CB 750 F was launched, which was a breakthrough and set completely new standards.
