History

Denmark has a limited but interesting history of motorcycle production.

The older Danish motorcycles mainly date from the first half of the 20th century, and were developed at a time when motorization was still new and practical solutions were in focus.

Older Danish motorcycles were generally characterized by solid construction, simple design and a focus on durability rather than high speed.

They were built for everyday use, and had to be able to handle bad roads and the Danish climate

Danish manufacturers

At the beginning of the 20th century, there were several smaller Danish motorcycle manufacturers, and Ellehammer's motorcycle was particularly notable.

Brands such as Hamlet, Dania, Mundus, Kyhl, Dansk Griffon, Odin, FHM, Dansk Humber, Mørch, FHM, Phn produced motorcycles in small series.

They were often equipped with foreign engines, while the actual frame production of the frame took place in Denmark.

Although Denmark never became a major motorcycle nation, the older Danish motorcycles have great historical significance, and due to the small production numbers are a great collector's item.
